Humanize
Change the parts that read as machine-written.
Humanize works a passage at a time. It proposes small, specific edits to the phrasing that reads as formulaic and leaves the rest of your draft exactly as you wrote it — your numbers, quotations, citations and meaning included. You accept or reject each one.
Bring a draft — paste it in or open a file — and Humanize opens on it.

Real proposals from Syft's Humanize engine. Nothing changes until you accept.
What changes
Formulaic phrasing, rewritten. Everything else, left alone.
AI-assisted drafts drift toward the same habits: hedged openers, tricolon lists, transitions that announce themselves, sentences of uniform length. Humanize targets those patterns. It is a writing tool, not a pass over your whole document.
Numbers and data
Figures, units and measurements come through unchanged.
Quotations
Quoted material is left exactly as written.
Citations
References and their formatting survive the rewrite.
Your meaning
Revisions reword the sentence; they don't change the claim.
Modes
Pick the register.
One control, four directions. Scope it to the whole document, or select a passage and rewrite only that.
Natural
Soften stock phrasing, contract where speech would, trim filler.
More conversational
Loosen the register without losing precision.
More formal
Expand contractions, settle exclamations.
Concise
Remove filler phrases and empty intensifiers.
Review, then apply
Nothing is rewritten behind your back.
Humanize proposes; you accept or reject. The result is always written to a new copy and your original is never overwritten. The document's history records what ran and what changed, so you can compare the two.
What each proposal touches
- Word- and phrase-level edits only. The local rewriter never restructures sentences, invents content or removes citations.
Stated by the Humanize engine itself, with every proposal.
Not the same lens
Machine-like is not the same as unlike you.
Humanize asks whether a passage carries the habits generated prose tends to have. Academic Voice asks something different: whether it reads like the writing you already do. A sentence can be perfectly natural and still unlike your usual work, which is why they are two lenses and not one.
Humanize changes
Formulaic phrasing: hedged openers, announced transitions, stock filler, sentences of uniform length.
Academic Voice compares
A draft against tendencies measured in work you chose. It reports differences; it does not decide they are faults.
The loop
Detect, revise, check again.
Humanize is one step in a cycle you can run as many times as the draft needs. The detection and the revision tools read the same document, so every run is comparable to the last.
01
Detect
Syft Detect reports a signal band and marks the passages carrying AI-like signals, with the pattern behind each one.
02
Humanize
Revise the passages that read as stiff or formulaic, reviewing each proposal.
03
Re-check
Run the new copy through the same analysis and compare the evidence against the original.
Re-checking is for comparison, not for chasing a lower reading. Humanize is not offered as a way to make writing undetectable, it makes no claim about what any detector will say afterwards, and a draft that was AI-written before a revision was still AI-written after it. If the passages were yours to begin with, the point of the loop is simply that the stiff ones now read as you wrote them.
